The Life You Live.
The Life Within.
You may have built a life that works and still find yourself returning to the same questions, patterns, or dreams.
Something may feel unsettled or missing, even when it is difficult to put into words.
Jungian psychoanalysis begins with curiosity about what is asking to be understood.

About Brian
My name is Brian E. Kennedy-Arenivar. I am a Certified Jungian Analyst and Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than twenty years of clinical experience across a range of mental health settings. I completed my analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York and maintain a private practice in Manhattan.
I listen closely, and I remember what people share with me. I am interested in learning what you already know about yourself, including the patterns you keep repeating. We will work together to understand what these patterns mean for you.
What Is Jungian Psychoanalysis?
Jungian psychoanalysis is based on the work of Swiss psychiatrist C.G. Jung (1875–1961). It focuses on working with the unconscious and the symbolic meaning that can appear in our dreams, creativity, relationships, and patterns that seem to repeat throughout our lives.
Personal success can sometimes become a shield against deeper questions of meaning. The qualities that help us succeed are not always the same qualities that help us understand ourselves on a deeper level. Parts of our emotional life may receive less attention because they do not fit easily within the demands of work, responsibility, or achievement. In psychoanalysis, we are interested in what has been left out of conscious life. Dreams, recurring life patterns, relationships, and emotional reactions can begin to show us what has not yet been fully known, understood, and integrated.
Many people come to Jungian psychoanalysis after years of functioning well in demanding careers and relationships. They have learned how to think clearly, perform under pressure, and meet expectations. Over time, something may begin to feel flat, repetitive, or increasingly difficult to ignore. This is often when people begin looking inward and asking different questions about their lives.
Jungian psychoanalysis may help you understand more of yourself within the life you have built. The work can include dreams, recurring patterns, relationships, emotional reactions, creativity, and questions of meaning.
Jungian Sandplay Therapy
Sandplay offers another method to work with the unconscious. Using a tray of sand and miniature figures, a sandplayer creates their own world in the sand without needing to explain, or know in advance what it means.
Sandplay was developed from Jungian psychology and works with symbols. What appears in the tray may elicit unexpected emotions, memories, inner and outer world conflicts, dreams, or other unconscious material that has been difficult to express in conversation.
I use Sandplay with children, adolescents, and adults.
